This past month has filled my head with so many questions. Watching the protest movements in the US and reflecting on our issues here in Canada has questioned how we can do better. Inclusion4Ability is about inclusivity and learning how to accept and love one another for who we are without judgement.
Are we doing enough? Are we representing our community in the right way? What is the best way to spread the message of inclusion?
With the Black Lives Matter movement coming to the forefront of conversations this month, it has been a time of reflection and learning. The need to make the world a better place has flooded into my thoughts. No one person can change the world; all I can do--- all we can do, is focus on improving ourselves.
As Gandi once said, "Our greatest ability as human beings is not to change the world, but to change ourselves."
The diversity that each individual brings to this planet enriches our world. To witness a global cry for empowering black lives, for empowering LGBTQIA+ community, empowering LGBTQIA+ who are radicalized and/or part of other minority groups is energizing. The intersectionalities of each individual are what we need to learn about and welcome into our world. No one person is going to fit in one box; identities are multi-layered and have priceless value. Those with intersective identities have so much to teach us, as they interact with our world through multiple gateways.
Social media, books, podcasts, videos, etc. are resources at our fingertips. There are stories out there needing to be shared and needing to be heard. One connection, one learning moment at a time, we can begin to change ourselves - becoming more aware, empathetic, understanding, respectful, and ultimately free of judgement.
At Inclusion4Ability we are each on a continuous journey towards understanding and loving every human being for they beautiful people they are. We are changing ourselves so we can continue to make a positive impact on changing our world.
We are looking forward to learning from you and with you!
